Biscay Coaching

Our coaching philosophy

We seek to share our love and knowledge of endurance sports with athletes looking to excel and grow.

We believe that our experiences – years of training, racing, and coaching – bring us unique perspective and knowledge that benefits our athletes in their varied abilities and pursuits.

We want to give back to the endurance community by working with athletes who are committed to challenging themselves, and who seek to perform at their best.

“I have no doubt that I would not be the athlete I am today without this coaching team, and I am beyond grateful to get to be a part of it every day.”
Biscay Coaching

A fully personalized approach

We believe in tailoring our coaching services to meet the individual needs of each of our athletes. We will work with you to create a fully customized plan that fits with your work and personal schedule, and that’s designed to help you achieve your training and racing goals.

To start, you will be matched with one of our coaches based on your discipline, goals, and training preferences. After extensive information-gathering and discussion to get to know you, your coach will design your plan and send it to you 1-3 weeks in advance, giving you time to map out the logistics.

And when life/ illness/ work conflicts happen, your coach is there to help you maximize your time and revise the program as needed along the way as well as providing daily feedback and encouragement on your training.

Become part of a community

In addition to your individualized plan and 1:1 relationship with your coach, each athlete benefits from the camaraderie and encouragement of the larger Biscay Coaching community, which is comprised of all of our coaches and athletes and includes twice-weekly live online chats led by head coach Hillary Biscay.

Mike Plumb

Mike specializes in data-driven training. One of his greatest strengths as a coach and lifelong athlete–still competing at 60+ in cycling and aquabike–is evolving the training to maximize our potential over decades. He brings with him a deep knowledge not only of decades of coaching, but decades of athletic experience, and an understanding of how the body’s response to training stimuli changes in athletes from their 20s through their 70s.
